Nowadays, there seems to be a subscription model for almost every area, which is particularly profitable for the providers because of the steady income.
In March 2022, Rockstar Games introduced the GTA+ subscription service for GTA Online, which offers exclusive benefits on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Recently, however, there was a price adjustment that is likely to cause displeasure among users.
GTA+ becomes more expensive
The service previously cost 5.99 euros per month, but the price has been increased by two euros to 7.99 euros, which corresponds to a price increase of 33 percent. In the UK, the price even rose by 40 percent to £6.99.
Rockstar Games does not currently offer any alternative payment models for GTA+, such as an annual membership.
The reasons for the price increase have not yet been officially explained by Rockstar. However, GTA+ members now also get free games.
For example, “Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition” was offered in September 2023 and “Red Dead Redemption” last month. Titles such as “Bully: The Round of Honor” and “L.A. Noire” are also planned for this year.
Rockstar is expected to have further plans for the subscription model, especially with the upcoming release of GTA 6 next year.
We dare to assume that this will not be the last price increase for the subscription service.
