It is to be expected that the world of GTA 6 will be very detailed, with so many little details that we probably won’t notice them all immediately when we first play the game. This impression is already conveyed by the official trailer for the game from Rockstar Games.
A closer look at the trailer reveals that in a chase scene in which Lucia and Jason flee from the police, Lucia is holding banknotes in her hand, which at first glance appear inconspicuous.
However, an interesting detail is revealed when you stop the scene and zoom in: the banknotes say “United States of Paranoia” instead of “United States of America”.
This seems to be a deliberate decision by Rockstar Games to emphasize the satirical vein of the GTA series, which takes a parodic view of the American Dream and the Western capitalist lifestyle in the USA.
In GTA 5 and GTA Online, this change to the banknotes does not yet exist. Rockstar Games is apparently introducing numerous new details for GTA 6.
And what about GTA 4? Rockstar Games has changed the name here too.
However, it is interesting to note that the term “United States of Paranoia” is printed on the 100-dollar bill for “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – Definitive Edition” and “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition”.
In the future, Rockstar is likely to rely even more on its own fictitious names, similar to the fictitious state of Leonida (based on Florida) or Vice City (based on Miami).
